Lately
Happy Friday friends! I’m typing this post all cozied up in a fleece and blanket because fall finally arrived here in Ohio and I am here for it. Fall is my absolute favorite season of the year and I just think there is something super magical about. I’m also super grateful OSU football will be back just in time for my birthday weekend in October, because fall without football is not a perfect fall in my book.
This weekend Ben and I plan to go apple picking, hit up a local farmers market and basically do all the fall things. One of us is way more excited about all our fall plans than the other. Ha! It is supposed to be gorgeous here this weekend, sunny and only in the 60’s, so excited to pull out the jeans and sweaters this weekend.
Now, I know this year has been super hard and weight gain most likely occurred. Please give yourself compassion if you did gain weight and permission to buy new jeans and sweaters if needed. You have been through a lot this year physically, mentally and emotionally and need to understand the stress and survival mode you have been in this year. As you ease back into a ‘normal’ routine, know your body will change again. That is the beauty of life, you constantly get to change and evolve and chose how you nourish yourself physically, mentally and emotionally. You can read more about the importance of taking care of yourself and self-care here.
Now onto what has been going on lately!
Wanting: I have been seeing this pan all over Instagram and it now has jumped to the top of my want list. It’s an all in one pan that can do it all. It’s a fry pan, saute pan, sauce pan and fry pan that can braise, sear, fry, steam and more. Plus the color options are gorgeous. Steam is the color I have my eye on because I love how neutral it is. Gorgeous!
Eating: Well it is pumpkin season after all so I have been making breads muffins, smoothies, soup and more all with Pumpkin. I personally love pumpkin flavor and can eat pumpkin out of the can, so anytime I can use it in a recipe I’m down. Pumpkin is also full of fiber, can help boost immunity, vitamin and mineral rich, promotes healthy skin and more. I love this pumpkin chili recipe and you can easily modify as you need. Sometimes we just toast the pumpkin seeds and throw them on top and you can leave the beer out and replace with a bone broth or water. Super tasty!
Wellness: Have you tried oil pulling? I started my oil pulling practice a two years ago when I went through my yoga teacher certification. I started to really get into Ayurveda and all the natural healing practices that are associated with Ayurveda. You basically take a tablespoon of coconut oil, swish it around your mouth for 5-20 minutes and spit into your trash can. this technique pulls all the toxins out of your gums, naturally whitens your teeth and promotes healthy breath. Pair it with tongue scraping and you will have a very healthy mouth! I usually just used coconut oil I buy at the store, but I found this kit and love how it is specific to the use. Check out their website for all their wellness products - want them all!
Wearing: I have been making it a point to get dressed in the morning and post my #ootd on Instagram - hello personal accountability. My closet is basically a Madewell closet and I have been rotating between a lot of my staples. Madewell is having an Insider Event and I have all my staples gathered here.
Clean Beauty: I bought this toner at the beginning of the summer and love it! I’m super picky about my toners because I do not want to feel anything I put on my face. This is light, luscious, super hydrating and smells like watermelon. It truly makes my skin look amazing and minimizes my pores. A little goes a long way and I put it on after I cleanse my face in the morning. Oh, and of course it’s non-toxic, vegan and cruelty free. I use my jade face roller to help rub it into my skin. I also bought this serum that promotes anti-pollution and to help block blue light. I don’t use it as much as the other toner, but every time I have used it, it’s been lovely. It is also non-toxic, cruelty-free, vegan and gluten-free.
Reading: One of my favorite books if you are looking to create food freedom in your life. The F**k It Diet by Caroline Dooner is a great, informative read and will truly empower you to say f**k it and start living your life. I have read this book three times and each time I read it I’m hit with another ‘yup, still done with dieting’ moment.
