Healthy Travel Snack Ideas
The other week I did an “ask me anything” over on Instagram and one of the most asked questions was my recommendations for healthy travel/on-the-go snacks.
I’ve been personally curating my travel snacks for sometime now as I used to travel a lot in my old job, road trip and just need snacks on hand. Also, when traveling I never wanted to buy overpriced airport food, always wanted something on hand for ‘hangry’ emergencies, and well, no one ever orders health snacks when you are in an all day meeting.
My goal is always to be prepared and have things on hand that I know are healthy, delicious, not full of added sugar, don’t spoil and could be easily thrown into my travel bag.
Here are a few of my favorite health snacks to have on hand when I travel and I hope they help you on your next trip:
Raw nuts. I love almonds or to make my own travel mix with dried fruit and dark chocolate.
Larabar original snack bars. I personally love the pecan pie flavor!
Purely Elizabeth single serve oatmeal and granola. Watch out on the granolas for added sugar, I keep to the original or the collagen boost granolas.
Simple Mills organic seed crackers or almond flour crackers.
Chomps beef jerky. I came across these on a previous trip and fell in love. Such a great protein fix and the flavors are super tasty. I really like that these are Whole30 approved which means no funny ingredients to make them into jerky or added sugar. New Primal is a great option too.
Siete cookies or Hu cookies for your sweet tooth.
Vital Proteins electrolyte and collagen water powder is a must to stay hydrated. Also their collagen creamers are a great option if you love cream in your coffee but cannot do heavy milks.
Artisan Tropics has great plantain ‘chip’ options if you like the crunch!
If you’re road tripping and have access to a cooler, here are a few snack options that are great too!
Fresh fruit and cut up veggies
String cheese
