Little Things Bringing Me Joy

Raise your hand if you’re over it?

Over being at home.

Over being able to not…

…hug your friends/family.

…go to your favorite restaurants.

…shop at Home Goods.

…go to happy hour with your crew.

Raise your hand if you’re struggling to find joy in the present situation?

I know I sure am, and I have a sneaking suspicion you are too.

I will say, I do think the drastic measures that were originally taken in March were necessary, but I also think there comes a point when we can’t hide in our homes anymore and we need to be able to live our lives. We can’t hide out forever, but cautiously get back out there.

For my job, I have had the opportunity to read a lot of the COVID-19 thought pieces and articles to understand a vast point of view and I have come to the conclusion people are ready to get back out there because people are tired of simply existing...people miss living.

We as humans are not meant to simply ‘exist’ in our homes and not have human connection. As someone whose love language is physical touch, not being able to hug my friends/family deeply hurts. My husband has been kind enough to humor me and hug me for long periods of time to make up for the lack of other human connection, but I miss it.

My joy is up and down each day, so today I wanted to share a little list with you all of the simple things that are making me smile lately. Some might call it gratitude wrapped in joy. I hope this encourages you all to embrace and hug your small joys as a reminder, happiness is still in the world. We just have to remind ourselves.
